I put 4 butts on last night at 9:45. The last time I checked on it was around midnight. Woke up this morning at 6:30 and my fire was out.

  • Did you get an internal temp?

As stike said above you need to post more about the temperatures.

However, if you decide you are not going to use the 4 butts you can always do a high temperature butt cook.

I have done an 8# in 6.5 hours and it came out great.

Thanks everyone. AZRP set me straight. They aer not going to be done in time for dinner, but I am going to see how they do the rest of the day. I like the idea of increasing the temp.
  • I believe AZRP he was eluding to throwing those butts away and starting completely over. Really need to know the various temperatures that Stike was asking to give opinions on whether to throw or not.
  • Sounds potentially unsafe.

Hopefully AZRP advised you as much.

Jeff, he had to go to work right after he posted. I talked to him and he is not serving them to the party. -RP

just seems to be a lot of folks posting questions who ignore when folks post a well-considered answer

Sorry, I was answering Sauced Up's question. That's the only one I saw in my email in box before I spoke with AZRP on the phone then headed to work. I wanted to make sure I posted something to let everyone know AZRP had straightened me out, so I had to post a very quick reply at work (only had a minute) without reading all of the thread. Thanks to all of you for your replies.
