Spring Chickens posts about his meatloaf and wine has me ready to do a meatloaf..Did one some time ago using the wire basket..Have forgotten the time, temp, (BGE and internal) and setup..plate setter or direct? raised grid or not? Plan to use S. Chicken's recipe.. Any help appreciated.

I've posted this meatloaf basket pix a few times. I like it because it allows smoke to surround the loaf plus allows grease to run out.
As far as time and temp that is more a matter of the individual recipes, not the basket vs a pan vs nothing IMHO.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time. -
Hey RRP,
I bought one of these and like it but I found that the meat wrapped around the wires so when I removed the loaf much of it broke apart (plus that make it a pain to clean). Any suggestions for avoiding that?
Much appreciated,

Where can I get a basket like that?

I used a double lined meatloaf pan like this:
Spring Hen ordered if from somewhere. Works very well.
Here it is again in action:
Cleans up well too.

I always spray it well inside and out with PAM and my finished loaf just falls out.
I'm thinking too maybe it's your recipe. My favorite meatloaf recipes all have an egg and bread crumbs as ingredients so maybe my loaf is "tighter". Also this has 1.5# of meat and does not touch the walls - are you filling the basket side to side?Re-gasketing America one yard at a time. -
Some bacon on the bottom like you have across the top probably would help in the stick department as well.

Pam it is, thanks!
By the way, you should be able to get the double pan like Spring has at your wally world. That's where I got mine and I do like that it drips away the grease. But I also really like the 360 degree smoke ring when using the wire basket.
