I'm tired of replacing pepper mills.
Can anyone recommend one worth getting?
Some say Peugeot, others say Atlas, Magnum Plus, Perfex, etc.
Ease of use, not too difficult to fill and durability are most important......
I'm not adverse to paying more if it is worth it.
THANKS!

Check out www.cozycrafted.com. The guy that makes these peppermills is a 79 yr. old retired U2 pilot. He makes the most beautiful peppermills you'll ever see. He uses a grinding mechanism that's similar to puegot.
Naked Whiz features them on his website so they have to be good to get his approval. -
I second the Magnum! Just like your BGE the Magnum will be a heirloom. Over the years we've gone through many pepper grinders - this one is quality.Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

hi Anne, just a friendly suggestion, for the link to work you need to remove the dot after the com, or separate them with a space.

Thanks, never knew that.

Another vote for the unicorn magnum. Best grinder I have ever used. It isn't much for pretty, but very functional.
-
Another Magnum vote.
-
Thanks for the quick replies......
Any difference (mechanism? quality?) between the 6" Magnum (Amazon $31.00) and the 9" Magnum Plus (Amazon $45.00) besides 3" and $14? -
If you are looking for a beauty that grinds like a dream, check out U2Plt's grinders. I love mine and I've ordered a second one to match for a salt grinder. I think I've ordered the last grinder I'll ever need to order. Here's a link to my "review" of the grinder I received: CozyCrafted Pepper Mill
And here is a link to Cozy's website: CozyCrafted MillsThe Naked Whiz -
I believe the only difference to be peppercorn capacity.
-
Capacity. I have both, use the small for white pepper, and the large for black.
-
I have had an Atlas for about 15 years and love it.

I recently bought a Pougot for white pepper and it is working well too. -
Can't agree more Whiz. I was blessed with one the Christmas from some great people in Wisconsin. It is a lifetime treasure.

if i could get an extra 3 inches for only fourteen dollars, i bet my wife would have sprung for it by now.ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante

Great photo Doug!

Nice photo Mike! U have friends in WI?

Quite a clan up there. Ricky Bobby and Potty Brains. :woohoo:

Look at the bottom of the grinder anyone that has metal teeth for grinding vs plastic should do the job.
-
I picked one up at IKEA that is great and inexpensive. Glass jar, ceramic grinder, very well made.

From what you eggers say....my conclusion thus far is...... Go cheap if it has a metal mechanism but if I want an heirloom go with the Cozy Crafted job and if my wife is unhappy pay a few bucks more for the bigger one.
Do I have this right? -
   that's why u r da prof!
Metal grinders best for peppercorns, plastic grinder best for salts (something about moisture contact and oxidation) -
I'll 5th the Magnum. Expensive, and has a really terrible design flaw (the loading ring rotates open in the same direction that you twist to grind), but this thing throws out a torrent of ground pepper like a snow blower!
You'll never look back.
A bit of black electrical tape will quickly and aesthetically solve accidentally spilling pepper all over your floor.
