Here is my first attempt at cooking ribs on my BGE. In fact this is the first time I have cooked them period. Tasted great. Wife and kids loved them. First rack didn't even make to the plate.
Started out by cutting them in half, rub for about an hour and a half and placed in a rib rack. Cooked about 2 hours, then loosly wrapped with foil after a light coat of homemade Pennsylvania maple syrup. (Did not have any honey). Back on the egg for about an hour, then a very light coat of Sweet baby Rays cut with apple juice and back on the egg without the foil for another half hour.

LOL I still can't quite get used to seeing wellsboro in your signature line... seems weird after being gone so long...
-
Just a subtle reminder of what you left behind. I have not been to Maine yet, but have talked about making a trip up some Summer.

Looks great, keep watching the forum as there is so much info here that will help you to expand even further on your cooks.

I forgot to mention that this was also my first real cold weather cook. If was snowing a little but was about 14 degrees (F) with wind gusts up to 45 MPH. Took a bit longer to get up to temp but otherwise very stable.

Looks like you did a great job! For a first time you really nailed it. Enjoy!

Very nice!. Can tell by the way the meat pulled back they were great. Well done!
-
That's a great first effort, Nessmuck. Those look great.
-
Thats setting the bar high for your second try Dems some good looken ribs.
-
ribs look good! Cooking on the egg cold or hot weather makes it worth it knowing how good the food going to turn out.
-
It look slike you did a great job for the first cook. I will foil occasionally with cracker barrell syrup and then finish with a sauce that is more vinegar based. Nice contrast.
-
G...Did you make the syrup yourself? Ribs look great. Must be the mountain air .

The BGE does a great job in the cold. I cooked on my BGE when it was 10 below outside without any problems.
Cheers,

Good looking slabs. Im a fan of Sweet Baby Rays also. Try some Blues Hog. It has just kicked Sweet Baby Rays to second on my list.

Ness, You are a Rib Cooker now!

My Dad makes 40-50 gallons/year from trees on family land. Uses a wood fired evaporator. Just a hobby for him.
-
Rolling Egg,
I have tasted the Blues Hog a friend of mine used at a compitition. I like it better than Ray's also. I just can't get it locally. Need to order it.
