Reflecting on my first BGE EggFest, Tempe AZ

My first experience with an EggFest is in the record books. Although I didn’t cook, I met a bunch of great people. I decided that since this was Scott’s first event I would be there for him and Bekke as their “Go to Guy”. The food from every participant was exceptional. The location was perfect and the weather was typical desert southwest.
Claudia and I have been involved in the planning and execution of many large events in the past and I have to tell you I was a little concerned when I found out the stars of the show - the “BGE’S” - had not arrived by Friday at noon. We were relieved when the truck pulled up and we could start the building process. Since we had to move the Eggs to the location the next day we decided to leave them in the boxes and complete final assembly on site. Scott, Bekke, Natalie, Allen and I worked tirelessly until about 10PM on Friday night. Saturday morning with the help of the previous day’s crew along with Claudia - my wife, Rebecca - Scott’s sister and her husband Quentin and Jason - a friend of Scotts, we marched on to Tempe Park. We were unloading when some of the participants showed up. With their help, we had the 20+ Eggs in place and smoking by 10AM.
I have to take my hat off to Scott and Bekke for an amazing job given the short lead-time and the Eggs showing up the “Day Before”! Next year we will have corrected our mistakes and be ready for an even better event. Now a few pictures from the 1st annual Tempe Big Green Egg Fest.

We all had a great time. If any of you have names for my nameless pics let me know so I can edit.

Danny, you were such a great sport to be "go to guy". A lot of work put into this event...and it went off with a bang. I'm sure the glitches were worked out..and next year will be cinch....
Nice working with you.

I had a conflict that I could not change and missed Eggfest in my own home town. I hope to be there next year. I ask one favor, please don't schedule the event on a Saturday that my beloved Sun Devils are playing at home - unless they're playing a night game.
I've been reading this site since I purchased my egg last June. You all have taught me so much I look forward to meeting some of you.
Until next year,

Nice job on the new "Fest".
Thanks for the pics.-SMITTY

Didn't want to miss that one. One of the few wins that ASU could easily pull off
GO CATS! -
I have to say that Wanabe, Danny, and his wife Claudia helped out sooo incredibly much that I can't really express. Both of them are incredible people that I'm sure we'll be friends with for many years.
Sun Deviled Egg, when does there schedule come out? I'm starting to plan the next Eggfest this week and will be reserving the location in the next couple of weeks. Let me know and we'll make it happen.
I'll be adding more tomorrow including a bunch of pictures my Dad took. Thanks again to everyone that helped and came out to make this event go off with a bang! -

Thank you for your gracious compliments. Claudia and I enjoyed working with such an energetic group. We both felt 20 years younger when we left Saturday night. We look forward to your friendship. -
Hey Danny , thanks for all your help during the fest. The picture of me is with my best friends wife, and not my own wife. I ended up bringing about 7 people from Lake Havasu ( THE GOATHEADS ) and they all had a great time. Thanks again for all your help--- Mike

Wow, that's service! Here a link to the 2009 & 2010 schedule.

Thank you! -
Yeah, it hasn't been a good year, but the season isn't over. If we get by UCLA, we know the last game is an automatic W Here's a something you haven't heard from a Devil in years: Is it basketball season yet?!
-
Sorry, I posted the link to the 2009 schedule a little lower in this same thread. Thanks again...
-
Thanks for the link! I'll reserve the spot for the 2nd Annual Arizona Eggfest for the 14th of November.

You can count me in.
I may be good enough to cook with the experts by then?
