BGE Electric Starter

I was using the expensive BGE electric starter which started to lose it's coating around the coil after the 5th use. Last week, after less than a year, the coil snapped in half and is complete garbage now. I liked using the electric starter to start my lump and found it easy and clean to use. Do I splurge and get another one or just get the standard cheaper one despite the different shape and shorter handle?

Buy the cheapest one you can find or order a Guru golf club starter it is a starter, grill lifter, ash tool and grill cleaner for about 29.00 add a propane bottle and be able to start the egg for months.

If you decide that the guru golf club is what you want. I have one used twice and want $25 plus freight melbourne florida. I am selling it 'cause I got a MAPP after the guru and prefer the MAPP.

I have used paper towels w/oil, chimneys, electric starters, african green gel, sticks, guru golf clubs and MAPP. Have no need for a flame thrower like some of my northern weed burning neighbors. happy w/ MAPP

I got my electric starter at Lowe's at their year-end clearance for $5 (regular price $19.99). I've also seen them at Home Depot for about the same price.

I buy the cheap ones, where ever I happen to be. I liked the shape of the BGE but find by sticking the end of it between two boards on the deck that I can come pretty close to the shape. Doesn't seem to shorten the life but no promises on my part.

I've had the BGE electric starter for over a year and it still works perfectly. I make sure I never leave it on for more than 7 minutes.
