Just a guy in a garage try'n to build a new home for my mini when this frigg'n giant bee commences to harass me relentlessly. After about a 1/2 hour of being dive-bombed & almost kill'n myself running away (through a maze of power tools, wood piles & so forth), I finally found the perfect weapon to kill the bast'id:
By the way, I'm pretty sure he was twice that size when alive

Ah..the great white hunter who once was prey, becomes the victor!!

I'm highly allergic to bee venom so that one would have got my attention in a hurry! Nice shot (one less I have to worry about)!!

Hehe...that dude had it comin' to him, eh? And remember, you don't have to soak 'em

Could be a cicada wasp

We get them in the Houston area as they chase down the cicadas. Big suckers but I've never been chased by one.
I guess if you were in Asia you could put it on the Egg for a quick cooking and eat it! -
We have those killers here too, I see them all the time in their death-spiral, falling to the ground clutching their victim, but this thing was the same size however it had a typical yellow bee color, not black, & in flight it really did look like it was 2 inches long, scared the crap out'a mehappy in the hut

Amen to that.
I'm in the same boat about the venom. My crazy neighbor knows this and he is a bee keeper. -
Oh oh hope it wasn’t a honey bee they’ze the good bees. I just got some honey from the hive from a bee keeper friend of ours MMmmm good.
It looks like a wasp rather than a bee that was killed. Have you checked your garage for a wasp nest? Of course this time of year they can get nasty even if they’re not defending a nest.
This year seems to be the year for flying ants around here, went to the camp grounds and there were zillions of them.

OMG! I guess you keep a loaded Epi-Pen in your holster at all times! I got nailed by a single sting last year and it almost put me away!

That looks like a "Cicada Killer". They usually won't sting you but they sure can scare you with their size.

Pick up a badminton racket at a yard sale. Best bee whacker ever made. My 2 cents. rc

My guess is s European Ground Hornet looking at your pic. Much more bright yellow in them than a Cicada Killer.
