Help !!! Trying 1st Pizza

My grill has been going 40 to 45 min's. Still have a good bit of smoke, should I wait longer? don't want to ruin a pizza.

I have the platesetter on the fire ring legs down, egg feet then the xl pizza stone. I have a funky smell to the grill tonight. Could it be the egg feet? This is the first time I have put them in the egg. Thanks

What's the temp up to?

My guess is this your first hi-temp burn in a while and you are burning off a bunch of build up from the egg, setter, grid, etc.

smoke is dying down some , Think I'll wait another 5 to 10 , and then put on the pizza.

dude, crank the temp up a little higher & burn off the nastiness faster, it won't hurt the pie; I don't think its the feet, they are just ceramic pieces, I broke in a few new ones the other night w/o a problemhappy in the hut

doug, it could also be a dead toad (my son just informed me that there is such a beast in the very same bathroom w/the Sanford & Son toilet & mirror action)happy in the hut

yes , the smoke is dropping, The smell as well. The gasket seems to be OK. I lost one soon after getting my xl. I keep a close eye on the gasket.

Think it was some gunk on the plate setter. I had some what rubbed it off. Think it was the remnets.

I do mine in the 500 range, & they mostly look like this:

Zippylip, where did you get that pizza crust? It looks homemade and if it is would you mind sharing the recipe?

certainly, it is basic pizza dough, add 2 teaspoons of sugar to 1 & 1/2 cups of cold water, nuke for 1 minute, stir to dissolve the sugar, add 2 teaspoons of yeast, stir around again, give it 5-10 minutes & it will foam up & should look like the picture below. Then add this to 4 cups of flour along with a nice pinch of salt & knead for 15 minutes (kitchenaid mixer w/dough hook helps a lot, but you can do it by hand also): This recipe makes 2 large (indoor pizzas) or 4 smaller "will fit on the pizza stone for the LBGE" pizzas, so break the dough into how ever many you are making then put in a covered container & let rise for a few hours until they double in size (you can speed this up by putting in a warming drawer for 30 minutes-ish):

Add a little bench flour & work it out into a nice pie & slap it on your peel, top it & to the egg you go:
