Mr. Grandpas Grub and I have been back and forth with hair-brain (or in my case, Hairlees-brain) ideas with platesetters for our mini's. They are great for that personal pizza of 8 to 9 inches. We have talked about soap stone but they are hard to find and just don't have the mass. Well after a few Kegs of gin and sprite.

This is the result
start with fire brick.

drop in the fire brick

all that you need now is a pizza stone and a pizza!

I would suggest you get the bricks and stone up to temp. dome at 550 degrees and hold for 3o minutes. Then throw on your pizza.

  • That looks good there Tim.

I had some kiln wall brick's but the problem with tose is that the kiln brick also acts like an insulator.

I think I will run up to Lowes tomorrow and pick up some brick.

I am wondering with the amount of air you have in your pictures if I could hold temp at this altitude.

That's a good question. The bricks were $.71 at HD, so it is a cheap experiment. You may need to cut more off for your altitude. the title is a natural tera cota.

Ok so far, We have Hanna now Ike lurking out there. No worries but the media just hypes the chit out of it. It will affect my work more han anything else. I don't worry about things I can not control. If the big guy wants to destroy the boat/car/home, who am I to argue. That's why we have insurance. How are you feeling?

  • I was thinking it is pretty late for your schedule.

I hope these storms don't get hard on you guys. We don't get any storms with names, just winds, last night 77 mph here.

I have some huge poplar trees in my back yard that hang over my neighbors house.

The neighbors house burnt some years ago and with my luck my trees will break off and flatten their house. It scares the heck out of me every time we get storms like this.

I am hoping they will get mad and trim the trees down so I won't have to.

Been down most of the day today.
