This is why I love my egg... My 20-yo nephew is staying with us this summer (Brooklyn), has a real-job internship in Manhattan. He's young, big, and loves to eat. I've egged a bunch of stuff while he's here, his favorite being T-rexed ribeyes. Last night I let him know he'd be cooking and that he should bring his friend, recent graduate of nephew's college, also working at same place, if he wanted. I was going to cook something complicated but worked late and grabbed four more ribeyes on the way home. When nephew found out what was for dinner he literally started dancing around the kitchen (and later the back yard), and incessantly telling his friend what a treat was in store. Got the egg started, prepped the steaks (salt, pepper, olive oil), egg was up to 650, seared the steaks (huge flames enveloping them and shooting skyward - very dramatic, both boys deeply impressed), rested for 20 minutes, put on two hickory chunks, four minutes a side at 400, rested, served with salad and rice.

The steaks were pretty near perfect: great crust, juicy, tender, fantastic taste. They were both rolling their eyes and moaning. Friend, who cooks, said he couldn't imagine anything coming out better. I just got a note from nephew at work saying friend is still talking about it. Nephew says he wants an egg when he settles after college...

I love my egg.

I just saw my first Green Egg in the Expo store in Orlando near the Millenia Mall and I'm trying to convince my husband that this would be a good purchase. I'm originally from Flushing NY, but I'm married a Southern guy who loves Texas BBQ ribs, steak, hamburgers,MEAT. I love that stuff too, but I love the fact that you could make oven baked pizzas and roasted veggies. It looks like it would be pretty healthy way of cooking with lots of flavor. Would appreciate any feed back from an actual owner. Plus, how is the cleanup on this grill...Much thanks, Eileen.

The egg is as good or better as any wood burning brick pizza oven.
It is as good a smoker as any trailer mounted, heavy steel contraption on any barbecue circuit anywhere.
It is far better than any gas grill for charring up steaks or burgers.
It adds a new edge to dishes you normally would bake in the oven.
And this is just the start.

Have yet to talk to a dissatisfied egger. Tell your husband that. Im very value conscious when it comes to a purchase. When I started looking at eggs, I tried for about 3 months on the internet, looking for someone with something bad to say. Guess what. Thats right. Never did. That right there is clear evidence that its a great product.

Plus just try to find a used one. NOT! I tried for 5 months, finally broke down and bought a new one last week. Gonna get it together for tomorrow. :)
