off my platesetter. I heard JB Weld can not hold up to temps on fire box...can it withstand temps experienced by platesetter? Anyone do this? Results?
Thanks

Thanks for the post - any idea how expensive it is and where do you find it?

hope it works for you as well as it did for me. I've done over a dozen 500 degree pizza cooks on this since the repair.

Just follow the link I posted. $12.95 a tube. Tubes aren't big, and I think there's a 1 year shelf life on the stuff. I just repaired a firebox and think I used about 1/2 a tube....

I don't see a MSDS link from the page you referenced, only a Questions/Contact Form. Do you know where to find MSDS for this stuff?

I have used JB Weld which is typically $5 a tube about the same size as a roll of pennies. Not a bad price but I just saw what looks to be the same stuff selling in the furnace / plumbing section at Lowes under a different brand name, and you get about twice as much for $6.97. I might try it next time I run out of JB weld. Looked exactly the same, had the same description on the packaging. I have used it for lots of stuff and it truly is amazing. I have an old ceramic fire grate which broke in half down the middle, so I recently used JB weld to repair it and will try it out in the egg at high temp soon. I don't expect it to hold at the 1000+ temp of the coal pit but you never know, maybe it will make it through.

Click on the link and follow the instructions.

JB Weld is useful. My son-in-law hit a bump and put a crack in his oil pan. JB Weld to the rescue - worked great.
Also used JB weld to repair a cracked lump 'caddy' storage bin. Well, kingsford charcoal caddy but he lump fit in there just fine and it is now again water proof.
