Look what I found in a recent purchase of Royal Oak Steak House Lump. The 2 rocks weigh approx 1.25 lbs.
Not sure if photo will appear.

wow that is the largest % of weight that is rock i have ever seen...
i may have gotten a 1/2 pounder in a 20lb bag... no big deal... but i would be leaning towards contacting someone... you may be able to be compensated either by R/O or dealer... not for much you know the dealer may have a bag in the back with a hole in it or something and may throw that at you... which is proabably not worth the gas.....happy eggin

Chuck,
What do you think of the RO Steak House Lump? I just picked up 4 bags, but haven't tried it yet.

It has been good except for the rocks, I have 5 more bags not opened yet. I did a 12 lb shoulder last weekend - cooked 22 hours and used about 2/3 of the starting lump (it was at the top of the fire ring). I was also using the BBQ guru turbo grate and the DIGIQ II for control. The pit temp was at 215 most of the cook.

The red bags also have rocks. makes it interesting.
-
How do these rocks show up? Is there something about a retort furnace that causes these rocks to show up? Are these liners of the furnace or something? Wierd.
-
How long did the rocks burn and how much ash did they make? Good smoke?
-
I found the rocks when I was cleaning the egg. I always put the used charcoal in a bucket when I clean the egg.
Normally I do not have big pieces when I do this. -
Ya gotta watch these guys like a hawk! i think it is a conspiracy and they are short weighting you just like the butcher who puts his thumb on the scale............
nothing is sacred anymore. -
I started lining them up on the middle shelf of my table as collectables...2 so far, in BGE lump bags.Visit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241

Isn't BGE Lump made by Royal Oak?
-
Yes.
-
When they move the lump from the burn area to the trucks they use a front end loader. It picks up some rocks every once in a while.
It happens. -
Charcoal, rocks, carpenter's ruler and a quarter all in one bag...you got a sweet deal.

After you collect 10Lbs of rocks, do you get a free 10Lb bag of Royal Oak?
-
I linked to your pics and I see that your egg is sitting on a white block. What is that made of?
Nice table! -
I've found rocks in most every bag of lump I've bought, except for Wicked Good.
Good eggin'
