Warning! Landmann Fire starter pouches

Warning: I used these last week to start a load of lump in my egg, and cook chicken. It skunked my chicken, all I could taste was how this fire starter smelled when it was burning. Anyone else try these? I waited till the packets were entirely burned up and about 30 minutes after that before I put the chicken on.

Those type starters are nasty and smelly and smokey things. I wouldn't use one for love nor money. Get a MAPP torch or one of the electric starters if you have an AC outlet nearby.......

Yeah....I found that out! :woohoo: I usually use those weber cubes.....I've had good luck with them.

Why not try Stikes oiled paper towell? Quick, easy & cheap.

Angie,
Use oil and napkin, they work as good as the cubes and there is very little cost.

I'll have to try that sometime! I had almost forgot you could do that. Thanks!

Thanks GG, I had forgot you could do that. Thanks for the reminder.

Obviously, it is impossible to tell without trying one, but I've used fire starter packs that look very similar and had no sort of odor from them. The Naked Whiz
