If the vent is facing the wind you might get higher temps than normal, but other than that, if you can take the wind, it should be OK.
-
As long as the wind is not so strong it is dangerous to be out side, I use the egg. I don't worry about the direction of the wind unless I can not control the temp, which has never happened (so far).
GG -
not too windy and if you do not fire it up, you will need another excuse at adult beverage time.
-
Its cranked and cookin at about 240 for ribs that should be ok
-
Kinda late to be firing that sucker up for ribs tonight. Unless you plan to eat late.

The egg in wind is somewhat like a pick-up. Stuff in the back near the cab is protected from the wind. Just make sure the opening in bottom vent is away from the wind.
Now if a tornado comes a callin' make sure you protect that egg at all cost... :woohoo:
You can safely bump the temp up to 250 dome for the ribs -
Maybe he's on the wrong coast and three hours behind.
Maybe he's like me and eats breakfast at 4PM. :P
Maybe he just likes ribs before bed..
Maybe he's just trying to get Wess riled up more.. :woohoo:
Maybe he forgot it will take 5 hours to cook them ribs... -
We did our brisket cook this weekend in 45 MPH winds. We had to closely monitor the temp (but it was our 1st ever cook too). Everything came out fine.
-
just wrapped the ribs in foil and apple juice 2 more hours and its dinner time
-
the ribs came out pretty for a first cook
it was worth the 5 hour cook thanks for all the help ^ 5 -
Strap yourself in, tie that sucker down and light it.
