Cracked Lower Box on LBGE - Repairable? Plse Help
I am a newby or should I say dummy. I have used my large green egg once and cracked the lower outer box the full height from the vent to the seal. It is cracked all the way thru. I am hopeful the warranty will cover it. If not, can I repair it with a high temp epoxy or do I need to replace the lower box.

It should be covered by your warranty. That is if it cracked while using it in a normal fashion. If you dropped it or whacked it with a hammer, it probably won't be covered. Call you dealer or the BGE headquarters in Atlanta.

fire box?? or the egg itself, if you are not sure of terminology go to bge site and get the right name for the broken part and people will be back with advice.
sorry to hear you are having problems so soon.

have to be outside he said from vent to seal

I agree that it should be a warranty issue. How about a little more detail on how it cracked?
-
If it is on a wooden deck, I'd be leary about cooking anything at nuke temps. All you need is for the egg to fall apart with a full load of lump in it and you would have a scary situation. Good luck and be safe.

Thanks, I am going to see my dealer on Monday

The lower egg is cracked.

Thanks, hoperfully the warranty will cover the egg.
I did fail on the initial pull of the ripcord. Hopefully my back up chute works. -
Thanks, it will definitely remain on the concrete or grass until it it repaired.
These things are fragile. -
muckdog25,
Sorry to read about the problem.
You would very, very, very wise to call John at BGE HQ and explain the full situation to him. John has been MORE than fair getting egg problems resolved.
By the way, how did the crack happen if you know?
Sounds like you bought from a dealer and not off of the internet. Smart move on your part.
Wishing you the best with the problem.
