Is it rated for MAPP gas?
-
no just propane. Limits the damage I can do :S
-
You will love it. Almost instant glowing coals.
-
Don't forget to give us a review. I am pretty much sold on the MAPP gas, but also tired of sparks in the face from my tank attached head and the exta cost.
-
Edit: Double post I got an IE "your page has expired warrning" when I refereshed double post. Since I can't figure how to delete I will leave this.

Will do Zash. Trying it tomorrow with steaks & scallops then sunday with fatties & abt's
also told the neighbors I'd burn the weeds off sidewalks & driveway's. Think I might regret this. will try to post pic's. (thirdeye has a great video on his site)

I've been using this torch for over a year and love it. My propane tank was around half full when I got the torch and it still has a little left in it, not much though I'm sure. I blast the coals for about 10 seconds with the torch then shut off the valve at the propane tank and let the gas burn off to start the coals. I never use the "turbo" lever as it's just too much.

I really like the Guru, Golf Club Starter and it works fine with MAPP gas. The design is such that you stick it down in the charcoal and let it rip. No problem with sparks.

"Kid, you'll shoot your eye out!" LOL, seriously wear eye protection. -RP

Thanks Ed but I'm known more as tim the toolman than as Pat the poolman. think my wife has legitamate concerns as to the damage I may cause with a new toy. :cheer:
but my neighbors (more than 2 doors) still like me. -
Thanks RP. any new info on you making the Fla Eggfest? I'm really looking forward to my first.

It's not looking good, the airfare keeps going up. But we'll meet up in Atlanta for sure, cause I know you'll be there. -RP
-
Very cool.
Can you keep us posted as to how it works??
Thanks,
Greg -
When is Atlanta? I know most are in a downturn but I'm still busy with a 2 month backlog. Let me know if you can cause I'd love to make it but have to schedule.
Thanks Pat
P.S. Fly into Orlando & we'll pick you up on the way. LOL -
Traditionally the third weekend in Oct. Can't speak for the mothership though. Rental cars are way cheap for weekends but thanks for the offer. -RP

You'll love it. I've had mine for about a year. hooked up to a 20 lb. tank. No tellin' how long that will last. Has to be one of the most cost efficient and best lighting.
-
You've probably already found out.... Don't use the trigger, unless you're melting ice, or killing weeds. You'll get plenty of flame with just the round knob. I've got mine for about 2 years now, and still on the orig 20 lbs of propane. Wouldn't want to be without it.

Looks like this thing could melt the egg.

I do get sparks occasionally so I too would recommend eye protection. This thing is pretty tame compared to some of the things we have in the shop so although I show a healthy respect for it I am not intimidated by it.

FlaMike; you should have put the do not turbo in 'caps' the flame thrower worked great & no people or animals were harmed in my first try. Wife still has concerns but got the egg to 400 in 5 min. Think I'm gonna like the new toy. Gotta run now & find the dog
