Morning all,
Is there a basic rule of thumb to figure grate temp from reading on dome thermometer? I have a large egg.
Thanks

    proudpapa56,
The basic rule of thumb is that there is no basic rule of thumb. The difference depends on the temperature of the cooker, how long the cooker has been stable at a temperature (the difference decreases over time), what type of setup you are using (plate setter? drip pan? etc.). You can expect a difference between 20-50 degrees, probably.[p]TNW

proudpapa56,[p]I agree with TNW on this one. Note also that sometimes dome temp will be higher and other times grate temp will be higher. It's best to monitor both.[p]Matt
