Small town hidden gem.  If your familiar then you already know. If not make it a ride Destination or stop along the way.  Visit the mural wall if you can.  6 working indirect wood burning grills,   place was stacked.  No wait.  Cooked to order.  Country ribs was a 4 piece order, steaks was considered a large order.   Had no idea.  Thick cut, generous meat portions.  Price not hateful.

Stacked steaks or stacked country ribs.

Outstanding ridiculously great.

I love to find places like that when I travel. KCBS used to have a list on their website of commercial BBQ places that were run by serious competitors, and I've been able to visit a number of them here and there. Unfortunately, they don't show that list anymore, so it's largely a matter of serendipity now.

I wonder if Portsmouth were the ones who taught Detroit Lions children how to count up to the number 16?

I’m jealous over here. May have to make the 11 and a half hour drive.

My favourite part of your post was the expression “price not hateful.”
