Mere brag
Options
I have absolutely nothing to add to the forum here but a simple brag that I got my butcher to cut me two filet mignons that are about the size of grapefruits and a slight finger-push is like touching whipped butter. Unforgivably expensive, but this is going to be good. Salt, pepper, then a very short visit to a very hot Egg. This is the only place where I thought friends would appreciate the sacredness of the moment.

Hank,[p]I do believe you forgot to post your address and the time that dinner would be served. Just kidding, sounds like a truly special dinner. Enjoy![p]Spin

RRP,[p]*full lotus* OOOOMMMM!
And I wonder if anyone has ever stopped to think that it's just "Moo!" backwards.[p]H.

Spin,
One hour east of Atlanta. Just follow the smoke and the smell.

Metalhead, I hope Hank answers. I live in Decatur too and running out of new options from the Farmer's Market.
-
Metalhead,
Wilkes in Snellville is not as good as they used to be in my opinion. I have been using Great Western on 78 in Loganville. No complaints about their meat and they really seem to enjoy talking to you about how you are cooking and what you want. Any request has been met with a helpfull answer.
-
Rusty Rooster,
hey thanks I might get out that way during the weekend[p]
-
Metalhead,
Hope you like them, I do. I drive about 15 miles past a bunch of grocery stores to get there.
-
GonetoSeed,
you know...I like the YDFM but sometimes their meat is a little overpriced[p]do you know about Shields market?[p]it is in the CVS across from the Emory village on N.Decatur Rd.....I found that they have real fresh meat but once again it is a little high for me[p]
-
Rusty Rooster,
cool!
-
Metalhead,
Thanks for the reminder. I remeber Shields from their days on the Square and all the hoop-la about CVS replacing the little Kroger and how Shields was the compromise. Haven't shopped there in a long while and think I'll drop by and see what they have.
-
Hank,

Metalhead,
No special meat place. The local Ingles guy is a guy I knew in highschool about a zillion years ago. He hooks me up from time to time. My thinking is that you just need to get friends with the local meat-cutter. It doesn't have to be a boutique meat place if you know the guy inside. This guy just calls and says "I have something you might want to look at before I massacre it for the public...."
-
Hank,
thanks I got a friend at WHole foods...he is just hard to get in touch w/sometimes
-
ronbeaux,
good stuff, my boy.[p]i think we'd get along real well.
hahaha
peace[p]i gotta get to work!

Metalhead,
I use to live in Snellville and Wilkes will do you a great job with steaks. We ordered a whole hog a few times for pig roast and always had great results. I live in Canton now and the Butchers Block in woodStock is one of the best I've ever seen.Worth the drive.
