Who wants to see inside (gut shots) besides me?

Am feeling pulled pork this wknd.
You have to earn brisket.... Silly SmoBot -
First thing I did, was check out the k-type thermocouple.
TL/DR: PASS - FLYING COLORS
...
So I know one or two things about k-type thermocouples. I do not intend to project myself as an expert on the subject. So please take this information for what it's worth. Some jerkoff on the internet telling you things.
But the stainless clip that attaches to the grid of your smoker is metal. That metal connection should never make contact with the actual wires taking the temperature, in an "ungrounded thermocouple" scenario, which is what this is.
You can see how that will break best practices right? That metal grill clip, that is electrically connected to the thermocouple (two dissimilar metals coming together creating mathematical magic pixies) is also electrically connected to other things. Like the entire grill if you have a metal grill. Or perhaps you have other wires touching your non-SmoBot thermocouple wire.
I've tested Auber and also Thermoworks k-types for this manufacturing defect. Auber is about 50/50 and thermoworks was the worst offender.
They still seem to take temperature even though they're grounded. So I'm not sure what the real beef is with that.
I just know a little bit about BEST PRACTICES and when I test for continuity from the grill clip to either K-type metal, I get nothing...... just pure mathematical pixies flying around on the ends of a wire doing their thing. Taking the temp.
PASS..
Stay tuned friends! -
I wonder if they are as excited as you are that you’ve purchased their product.

I'd be day drinking.... getting my popcorn out. And enjoying the weekend. They've earned it. So far. -

my fans. i love you too!

I forgot to mention.
If you missed it in the porn. That k-type thermocouple hardware is Omega Engineering parts (best). I've not seen the little doo-dad (strain relief) on the end from Omega, that may be something SmoBot designed. Or something I haven't seen from Omega.
I have gut shots. I won't post them out of respect for SmoBot's IP.
Anyone have an idea why they went k-type on the pit and RTD on the foods?

if you have three things together.
one of them is not like the others.
after all, they appear to be a responsible company. -
Me tonight.

Well... put the brakes on the rebound chick.
She doesn't like my wifi!
If you're from SmoBot, I assume you would happily fix this for me as soon as I notified you. So if you're lurking, continue to do so. I want to be a dumb user for a while.
Disclaimer: I am a geek. My wifi network probably isn't like yours. Infact, I have two APs with the same SSID. SmoBot can see it, but most of my other devices don't and happily traverse based on signal strength needs. So yeah, it occasionally doesn't play well with others.

Build me a wireless smobot and I’ll be happy

Seems like the easy test is unplug an AP and try again. Then we'd know if it was duplicate SSIDs right?

Mount the smobot on the cap along with servo, that would eliminate at least one wire and give it a spot to rideSouth of Columbus, Ohio.

I'd bundle all three into one single tech flex sleeve and tidy up the ends with some heat shrink. You really need a hot knife to cut it clean but I've done it with scissors and a lighter to cinge the nylon.
I'll unfurl the SmoBot cables and see if they're a good candidate. I leave enough slack at the smoker end to move not pinch the wires. -
It's really the only solution I've found. Just collapse three smaller wires into one larger one.
Knock off tech flex from Amazon.

That could help a bit but the wires are mostly going in different directionsSouth of Columbus, Ohio.

Well, she still doesn't like my wifi. And I'm done fiddling with stuff.
I'll figure this thing out... in the morning.
