Pork shoulder,, fat side up or down??

q'n 3 or 4 pork shoulders today and overnite... do you score the fat side? and do you place fat side up or down while smoking? Thanks for help..

I've always heard fat side up, for the "self-basting" effect.

I just finished two overnighters this morning. I did them fat cap down, that way the slightly burned part is the fat cap. Both were nice and juicy. I guess everyone does them different--See-Yaa
