I have always wondered if this thing created a good seal when closed. I wonder no
more - it doesn’t. When I finish a cook, a good seal helps retain more lump for my next cook and cools the unit quicker (I store my Eggs inside my garage when not in use). Just my 2 cents

As a note - the bottom vent was closed

I’ve noticed among all of my eggs that the chimney sizes vary a little. This variability would cause some eggs to have issue with this new accessory as I believe it is designed to work with the chimney gasket new eggs have. I would recommend a chimney gasket to tighten the fit. But even on my eggs where the fit is a little loose, it shuts down quickly with the reggulator, at least no slower than the old ceramic cap.

Edit: I see it’s coming from the top of your reggulator. May want to swap it with your dealer. I’ve bought ten of those caps and none have that behavior.

Think I am going to ask my dealer. It’s not right from what I know. Thank you

Back yard is a platinum dealer by definition. I like eggs. You never questioned my motives when I ordered so many rutlands from you.  ;)
