do the springs that hold up the lid wear out

Does anybody have experience with the springs that hold up the lid wearing out? They look fine except they won't keep the lid up. My large size egg is 9 years old and was disassembled and in furniture storage for 5 years while we were on an international assignment for work. I had to correct some of the reassembly by the movers but the springs look to be in the right place.

sounds like its assembled incorrectly. got pics?

The spring assist is lifting the dome. The pivot point/angle keeps the lip open. Sounds like the hinge isn't installed correctly

i have had a spring fail/break after several years of use but i think thats rare. if the egg is leaning slightly forward the springs wont hold, get a level and make sure its level front to back
