OT- It's supposed to be too cold for these
It's been near freezing the last few mornings. Stopped by a buddy's farm today around noon. Walked out the back door and stepped way too close to this guy. He rattled and raised up. I heard it and caught movement in my peripheral 2 feet to my right. Instincts took over and I jumped 4 feet away from him and yelled, "What the f#&%!"
He was in the yard in the shade of the house. Blended in perfect with the grass. He should be in a den somewhere. It was in the 60s mid-day, but it's still too cold. He was moving pretty quickly trying to get away from me. I yelled for my buddy to grab a shotgun. He came out wondering what I was yelling about.
He was approximately 44". Haven't seen a rattling nope rope that big (in the wild) in a long time. He had probably been under the pier and beam house.
And no, I did not grill him.

My neighbor and I were headed out to MTB yesterday AM and I was just tooling around waiting for him. Finally called him to say WTF is the holdup.
He texted me that he found this under his bike
15" juvenille who was pretty docile at first then got pissed off, grabbed it w his 3' grabber stick and put in a bucket. Let it go free in the woods later.
He was walking out to his bike in bare feet, could have been ugly.XLBGE, LBGE, Charbroil Gas Grill, Weber Q2000, Old Weber Kettle, Yeti 65, Yeti Hopper 20, RTIC 20, RTIC 20 Soft Side - Too many drinkware vessels to mention.

I was going to reply with "oh h3ll no" until I realized that I've never lived anywhere that didn't have a good supply of poisonous snakes. Apparently the only states without any are Alaska and Hawaii, and that's because they have no snake populations period.It's "Smokin Gal", not "Smoking Al".

very rare up here to find one but i found one once, f&g took it away. theres only one tiny area in my home state that has them. the ones here dont even look like rattle snakes

This guy was about 15’ from the trail leading to one of my deer stands on our main road. Looks like he just ate something. He didn’t live to see Monday. Temp been in 30’s and 40’s in the AM. He shoulda been hiding in the ground by now.....

There is a stretch of road called Snake Road in the Shawnee National Forest which is about 1 1/2hrs from me that closes 2 times a year for snake migration. Pretty cool videos if you search YouTube
