Spruce up my egg. Or, routine 8 year maintenance ;)

After eight years of use, it was about time I gave my large a full service.
1.) Full load burn clean.
2.) New nomex gasket.
3.) Fitting the egg mates I bought, 8 years ago.
4.) Bought and installed the new 3" thermometer which I like a lot.
5.) New stainless grill to replace my original OEM enamel grill, which I realized didn't have much enamel left, it had been replaced by rust.
6.) I hemmed and hawed on the new daisy wheel replacements on the market, but in the end, did a full wire wheel strip and re-reseason of the original daisy wheel. Came up a treat (see photos).
The parts weren't cheap, but cheaper than a new egg. To be honest, it didn't *really* need it, but I thought I'd give back some of the love my egg has shown to me
Here's the before (ingore the mould, normally I'd do a quick burn and be good to go)...
And the after... (waiting on the new grill grate)
The new thermo and nest mates.
And finally, my rejuvenated daisy wheel (don't have a before, but trust me - it was really rusty.)

Great work right there. Easily good for another eight + years.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
Looks great!
I've got the same project coming up. A new gasket on the way, new bands ready to be installed and might as well do a major clean.

I did a similar refresh recently on my 10 YO egg. I went with an updated hinge. I haven't done a new thermometer yet. Need to clean the daisy wheel. I already changed the gasket so I may not want to do a clean burn.
