Need Some Help In El Paso

Fellow Eggheads

Im currently on a run from Arkansas to Bakersfield, CA that was originally suppose to end in El Paso.  In order for me to continue escorting the driver through Arizona and California I have to have my oversized load signs mounted to the overhead of my truck.

I have a design in mind to create a frame out of 1” PVC that will mount to my head ache rack, but could use some help with basic tools to cut PVC to size and drill holes so I can zip tie my signs in place.  I’ll gladly compensate someone for use of tools.  I’ll be here rest of day and tonight and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Any big box will cut the PVC for you. Either that, or use a roll of kite string. It’ll cut electrical conduit. Now the drilling part may be a bit tricky getting done.

    Out the door for $40 at harbor freight. Drill and multi tool with cutter. I have the multi-tool. It’s badass.

    Also- a cheap hacksaw will work fine on 1” pvc. You could probably pick one of those up for $5-$10

    Borrowed a grinder with a cutting blade from a driver and a impact drill from another.  Bought an adapter and bit set at Lowe’s so going to grab a bite then get to work.   Thank you all for your input...I appreciate it.

    I do have a full metal shop you are more than welcome to use, it's north of Bakersfield but I can give them the heads up if you need anything when you are here

    That song goes through my head every time I pass through El Paso and continues for several days after.

    Thank you for offering the use of your shop.  I was able to rig a Temporary Overhead sign and made it. Ordered my permanent sign and a new lightbar so I’ll be good to go now.  The 24 Straight Deadhead Home sucked and not in the OMG I’m cumming way.

    Too late, but I was going to recommend using EMT (galvanized steel electrical conduit) and associated fittings.  Much, much stronger (esp stiffer) and not that much more expensive.

    Thanks for the suggestion.  This was a temporary fix and I’ve ordered a retractable sign that’ll be more permanent.  I can get away with Front & Rear Bumper signs for TX & LA and there’s usually enough local runs where I can stay close to home.
