Frozen Dome

Went out today to encounter the dreaded Frozen Dome. Just wanted to say thanks to previous posts on this topic I tried lighting a couple starter cubes and tossing them in through the top vent. About 10 minutes in I could see water starting to drip out from the gasket. And then about another 5minutes later I was able to open the dome with no damage to the gasket.
Just wanted to post that this worked!
Thanks guys.
PS...I’m sure I’m in the minority, but GO PATS!

When you replace your gasket, use a fiberglass or woven ceramic one......they don't absorb water like felt does. Plus they're only on the bottom so the water doesn't stick to the bare ceramic very well.

Mine has been frozen for a couple of weeks. Guess it's time to do something about it. Thanks for the prod! I used to think the Rutland (fibreglas) gasket was what prevented freezing. It doesn't.
As for the "minority" comment, there are a few of us here. GO PATS!I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Frozen Dame? Why are you asking me for advice to get your lady more amorous? Buying her some flowers is a good start, you cheapskate!
