Spring assist - newest design

I just replaced the spring assist bands (newest design) on my 15 year old large BGE.  Lifts much more easily then the old version, BUT....my disappointment is that it doesn't lift the lid nearly as high/far out of the way as the old version.   I have to really work to use my grid-lifter to remove the cooking grate.   Is this a common experience or did I do something wrong?

    Common in my experience.  The pros outweigh the cons in my opinion though.

    Agreed.  Same experience.  Not as much clearance, but seems more stable.
