Rocks in Rockwood - not a complaint

Just did a clean burn to aid in old gasket removal and found these rocks afterwards. I know all lump will have some rocks from time to time, but these rocks look like ceramic or some type of refractory liner. Just a heads up to @stlcharcoal that an inspection of their furnace, kiln, or whatever it is they use might not be a idea.

They use front end loaders. It’s part of the kiln. The bags are overfilled to account for the occasional foreign object.

Yep. They weigh more than 20 pounds so you can’t complain!NW IOWA

Again, it’s not a complaint...just a heads up that an inspection of their refractory might needed. I have several bags of Rock Wood and don’t intend to change.Llano, TX - Med and XL BGE’s

Used to find many rocks and chunks of concrete in royal oak. One reason I switched to Rockwood once Ace made it available in California. I haven’t found any in the Rockwood yet. I do like it better than royal oak!

I think a picture of one of @stlcharcoal kilns would be cool. Just out of curiosity no big deal, I have never been around a charcoal plant and wouldn't know one if I was standing in front of it.

Rocks and refractory happen....that's why there's an half pound in every bag. Over the course of 5-10 bags you should always come out way ahead.
And for @alaskanassasin, here are pics......
