Cracked Base. Update Bands??

I’ll be submitting a warranty claim for a cracked base on my Large. Bought it in 2012. Bands are still working okay but would it be worth it to spend the dough to replace them and get the new style?

LBGE (still waitin' for my free T-Shirt), DIgiQ DX2 (In Blue, cause it's the fastest), Heavy Duty Kick Ash Basket, Mc Farland, WI. :glasses:  B)
If it wasn't for my BGE I'd have no use for my backyard...

IMO yes. The 130 bucks would be well worth it. So much easier to align

I also would pop for the new style band since you will have it torn apart anyway...but for me since you will be marrying an old dome probably cast in 2011 or even earlier with a base cast in 2017 or maybe 2018. With the reputation of being easier to line up and adjust that makes it easy to justify the $130.

Maybe that’s why my 2011 (bought) base was tough to line up with the new lid I got last year.  Took a lot of work to get it as lined up as I could and still has a little under bite.  No leaks though.

I wouldn't. In fact, I also have a cracked base and when I ever get around to getting anew one, I have no plans to drop $130 for something I already have. Something that works just fine. Unless I can't get things to align properly. I assembled my egg originally without issue and installed Mates a year or so later. Both times, things aligned perfectly. If I can't do that again, I'll consider new bands. Otherwise, I don't see why I would. It's not like it's a lot of extra labor to install the old bands and replace them if they don't work.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
