I volunteered to cook for a summer church event. Very simple cook with just burgers and dogs.

Here is my issue: I there will be a couple hundred people there. I don't think I can make that kind of volume with a gassed, and defiently not my egg.

ANYONE HERE NEAR THE TAMPA, FLORIDA AREA - I'm looking to borrow or rent a pull behind grill.

If anyone close is willing to help it would he greatly appreciated! Or if anyone has an advice on wher wi can rent one, that helps to! Thanks!

  • You might consider checking you local rental centers. I have rented a 2x5 foot charcoal grill before for large parties. Not a pull behind but honestly....uses less charcoale and they can deliver and pick up for you. Just an option to consider.

Agreed, a couple 36" Blackstones could take care of that number in about 1hr of cooking. You could probably cook 100 hot dogs on one 36" blackstone all at the same time and on the other probably manage 20-30 Burgers at a time.

Just a thought - but you could look for Weber kettles on CL.

Used to be able to find them for $20-30. Could get 2-3, and maybe the church could use them for other cooks.

@blind99 thanks! That's actually the same place I came across. Not a bad deal for $100 for the day.
  • You might also want to check out the MWR at MacDill for rentals.

I have loaded them up before and it's like a game of whack-a-mole to keep from burning stuff.  And keep stuff cooking.

After looking at the IR temp profile, I see why.

What is the date, and where are you gonna be?  I’m in the area and would love to help you out, if I could.

Unfortunately, I can’t help with the grill.

Damn. $100 for the day? I found a Big John charcoal grill at a yard sale 4 or 5 years ago, paid $55 for it. Just a couple of weeks ago was too late responding to a Craigslist ad for the 2"X5" charcoal grill with the pig rotisserie...sold for $350 30 minutes before I saw the ad.

Keep an eye on the auction / Craigslist sites.

Heh. I could reply that I prefer my pigs unborn, but this isn't Friday night. So I won't even go there.

    And of course I meant 2' x 5 '.

But I do like the pre-suckling pigs....

If I did not pick on petty and obvious mistakes, I would never have anything to add.
