any recommendations? We have a large dog that sheds bad. Not much carpet. Mostly tile and hardwood. Thought maybe some of you have one. Thanks for any input.

We've got the Roomba with the wifi. It's awesome. A game changer.
-
The collection bin is small though. You'll have to empty it pretty often with bad shredding.
-
We are roomba peeps as well. Very good on pet hair. You will have to empty the bin daily but it will keep your scene in check. Not perfect but we love having oneKeepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

A half-quart of shellac on the dog works, too; lots cheaper than a Boomba, and doesn't require wifi._____________
Remember when teachers used to say 'You won't have a calculator everywhere you go'? Well, we showed them.

We have a cheap one made by Bissell and it works very well. We are looking to upgrade though. I did some research and found one made by eufy on Amazon that is getting very good reviews. Planning to purchase it. They are great for pet hair.

We've had one for about 10 years. Does a great job for surface dirt. You'll still need to use a regular vacuum for deeper cleaning every so often. I also have the Scooba, which mops your hard surfaces. Both very handy.

We don't have one, but have friends that have a couple of neato botvacs and they swear by them for pet hair.

I appreciate the input. We only have carpet upstairs and the dog doesnt go up there. We just have freaking white hair all over the hardwood. Everywhere you look. Hope this is the answer.

Do what I did. Match your floors to your dog. Can't see the hair. Problem solved.

I reckon it would take less paint to paint the dog............

We have a roomba and it works well at cleaning the tile floor. However, at only two years old, it no longer can find the docking station or honors the virtual wall. We are looking to upgrade to a Neato. From the reviews I have read, it is a much better vacuum.LBGE, Stoker WiFi, UDS, Pit Barrel Cooker

I had one but she ran away! 8 - (

We have a Roomba, and it works well. What's remarkable about that, is that we also have a 155lb male St. Bernard.
Contrary to what's mentioned above, we find that ours works great on our heavy/thick carpet, and less great on the tile floors.
I'd buy one again, fwiw (the Roomba, not the dog ;-) ).

We're new to the Roomba as of Feb 2017 but it is working great for our 2 shelties and a black lab (that sheds more than the shelties). Hardwood floors and tile with a bit of carpet in the bedrooms. Daily emptying required. Wifi is great at giving updates as far as if there are any issues (Bin is full or the occasional "stuck"). We had an issue with the rollers but Roomba support was very quick to diagnose what the issue was and sent us new rollers immediately.
Very Pleased!!!

We have a Neat Botvac Connected D5. We have a large ranch house and chose it because it will return to base to charge and then after charging return to where it left off. Takes care of 3000 square feet in two runs. Have only had it a couple of weeks but is working well.

We have wondered about one of these for our home as well. But what our worries are that it won't fair well with the mess that we get from 3 kids under 6.
It's the crumbs and dropped foodstuffs at the table that are the biggest messes in the house.
How does one of these fair with that type of material? -
If you want to save some money look at the ILIFE A4s. I have had it about 3 months now and works great. We only run it on tile. We have a cat and it keeps the hair picked up. It is a no frills machine but works great.

Question about this robot.
I have a 3 year old. We have toys. Sometimes our living room looks like it threw up on itself. Sometimes I am tired. Sometimes my wife is tired. What does this thing react with obstacles such as those?------------------------------

I have a 16 month old. I'm wanting one with a cattle prod so it shocks the piss out of him when he messes with it. Haven't found that model yet.

Roomba from Costco. Whenever it dies or the batteries give up, I'll just take it back and get a new one. Keep an eye out, they're often $50 instant rebate.

I have all hardwood--run it every night. Just gotta remember to empty the hopper every day. Blows mine mind how much stuff it picks up every night.

Which one do you have? Theres a bunch of different roomba's.

We've got the 980.

Not sure.....mine is 3-4 yrs old. It was a "pet model" It came with some extra brushes, and units that shoot an IR so you could block rooms (never used them.)

Have had several Roomba's before switching to Neato's. The difference between them (not sure if Roomba's have changed) is that the Roomba's will keep criss-crossing and bumping around until they cover everything and many times you could see from the wheel marks in the carpets that it missed a lot. The neato launches, maps out the room and obstacles using it's laser, then proceeds to clean without missing or going over any area. Both my adult son's have the Neato made for pet hair and also say they work well. Both vacuums have cliff sensors and will not fall down stairs and have methods to restrict their access to areas/rooms you do not want them in.--

Dyson v-6 7 or 8. Cordless battery vacuum. You have to run it but it works fantastic. Cuts the vacuum time to at bird. I have a100 pound long haired shepherd. He sheds terribly but clean up is a breeze with that.

I would love to have a robotic vacuum, but I don't see how it could possibly work in my home. I can't even walk through the living room because of all the loose Lego's and Lego built sets.
On the plus side, it's a real obstacle course to navigate at night if there was an intruder. A real negative for me in bare feet. Stepping on a Lego with bare feet can make a man say things not fit for children's ears.
None the less, a Roomba would be a great thing, in the right home.
