From my research Excalibur brand rates highly. Any other thoughts?

Excalibur 9 tray here bought using Amazon Prime. Go to the Excalibur site for fun though, they have over 400 recipes on file. Apples dehydrated with one pack of stevia and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon are great. Figs take forever to dehydrate.

I'm not sure who actually makes this one. But this thing does a great job. http://www.cabelas.com/product/home-cabin/kitchen-dining/food-dehydrators/pc/104798880/c/104739480/sc/104294880/cabelas-l-commercial-food-dehydrator/2339805.uts?slotId=0~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I've got a Nesco square one with extra trays.

NM, sorry...
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I've got a round Nesco which use stackable trays. Works fine.
Not sure what the Excalibur at 3X the price does better.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
I've got a Nesco also, with 4 extra trays. Works great, but I don't recall what I paid,,, not $130 for sure. Have had it for over 10 years.

If you have a modern oven, it may have a dehydrator cook setting on it. My double oven does. It's a two year old Electrolux.

I've had an Excalibur for a number of years and it has been great for me. I only use it for making jerky, but they are very well made.Cincinnati, Ohio. Large BGE since 2011. Still learning.

I think Excalibur is up there at the top of the line, but if you're new to dehydrating & don't want to risk a couple hundred bucks on something you might find out isn't your thing take a look at a Presto. I've had this one for a year or so, it has a timer, adjustable temp (90-165), 6 large trays (expandable to 12), 2 mesh screens & 2 fruit roll up trays for $55. I use it regularly & it performs (so far) flawlessly...

Ive recently got into dehydrating. I saw the Excaliburs at Costco online but they were a little steep for me to try and see if I liked doing dehydrating.
I kept searching and bought a Cabelas 12 tray dehydrator. It was $100 off and I had a $100 gift card to use up so it only cost me $129.
ive run 5 runs of jerky and 1 meat stick through it and have zero complaints.

After many different dehydrator, round & square I could have gotten several excaliburs. I finally bought it and sure am happy. No rotating racks easy loading & clean up. 50# carrots only took 2 batches. 8# peas + 8# corn + some apple in 1 batch. Love the Excalibur.
If you end up not liking dehydrating then sell it. You probably ending up spending less money than buying something then wishing you had the best.

I have no idea what "the best" home dehydrator is. So I hit the Google and I came across one review titled "The Best Dehydrator for Making Beef Jerky".
https://www.jerkyholic.com/best-dehydrator-making-beef-jerky/
According to their review of four machines they rated the Nesco #1 and the Excalibur #2. The Nesco was much quieter and had a more even temp thruout the unit. The Excalibur was a little quicker in getting foods up to temp. The Excalibur has a longer warranty and a builtin timer. The Nesco is a fraction of the price of the Excalibur and has no builtin timer (so one less thing to fail ).
Their review does have one thing wrong - they state that the trays for the Nesco are not suitable for cleaning in a dishwasher. They are safe for top rack use, however, I have placed them in the lower rack of my dishwasher without any problems. My dishwasher is a Bosch and does not have the typical old style heating element so it is safe for plastics on any rack.
Bottom line is all these things just use a small fan and a heating element to blow hot air thru a "box". They're not super complex devices.

I had an older model Nesco with the fan on the bottom for years. Decided to upgrade to the Nesco FD-1040 Gardenmaster Digital Pro. It has the fan and digital controls on top instead of the bottom. It has a timer and 1000 watts of power. Cleaning is a breeze (see what I did there). I've never needed to rotate the trays on this one. I got mine from Amazon. Here is a picture of our pea sheller, but the Nesco is on the right side of the pic on the bottom shelf of the bakers rack.
