Fogged thermometer?

Hey,
I am a new XL owner, 3 cooks into this.  I have noticed a fogged thermometer.  Is it normal to have some condensation under the glass?
thanks
Dave

It used to be commonplace, but I rarely hear of it since BGE switched to the TelTru. Pretty sure the dealer will cover it.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

  • My first Large Egg was fine for years. I finally replaced it with a Smokeware one just because.

My second large I have only done 4 cooks with and it has a ton of moisture in it. I could get it warrantied but I'm just going to get another Smokeware thermometer. I think they look better and they are bigger and much easier to read. And they are only like $30.

I believe there's a 1 year warranty on the thermometer. I had that problem after a couple months and my dealer replaced it on the spot. New one hasn't had an issue.

My thermo fogs from time to time, but it clears up when the weather dries out.

    No biggie.

Mine did once and I just tossed it in the BGE during cool down, below 300F, next time I used it it was clear.

Happened to me a month ago with a new MM.  Dealer exchanged for a new one.

My new MM has had the moisture inside the thermometer as well. Of course it has rained non-stop here in Central Illinois..so maybe that has something to do with it. I will keep an eye on it once the weather dries out and see if the thermometer also dries out.
