Since we love grills and I hadn't see anything posted on these I was curious what everyone thought about these or if you know anything about them? Seems like a really neat concept especially for people on the go.

They are built very well but I have never used or talked with anyone who has used them.
They sell them local at our Buc-ees stores/gas stations in Texas.

An awfully large amount of money for what a Cabela's turkey fryer burner and a cheap Cantonese CS wok could do.

A fellow I know via another forum has one and has posted his review. Neat, but for a $100 bucks you can get a turkey burner and a big a$$ wok or a Discada ( http://www.agrisupply.com/discada-bbq-disc-blade/p/85078/ ) as Focker said.

Or $90 for this. 54K BTUs is plenty. Would make a nice outdoor fryer with a skimmer.

Although similar in shape, the shape of a Wok compared to the Fire Disc is very different and it's a different style of cooking. Not to mention the enormous size difference you get with the 24" and 36" Fire Disc.
It's also made to a work table height so no table or cooking on your knees.
It looked very solid compared to the thin Cabela's. But yes, it's got a comparable price tag to the quality. I guess it just depends on how often you would use it.

Using the plastic spatula in the video was kinda funny, but I liked the video and the cook.

The disc in both of the FireDisc models are the same diameter - 22" - the 24" and 36" dimensions refer to the HEIGHT of the item.

what does it do, that a large cs wok can't?

Mainly the shape. Easier to cook multiple types of food at the same time by pushing to one side while still using the middle.
Warm tortillas in the center while meat and veggies are to both sides.
Not saying there are not similarities, just different style and method.

Yes, both Fire Disc the same size, 22", but the cooking surface area of 22", because of the Disc shape, is very large compared to a Wok, with the steep side walls. But I'm not sure I would put up the cash.

I've got a friend that has a homemade version on his trailer alongside his pit. That thing turns out some of the best fajitas I've ever had, and quickly too.

The ones on this site are pricey, but look great. You could cook a lot with that 36". I think there's enough room on @DMW's deck.

Look at the asian international markets. You can get an extremely sturdy base and a multi curcular burner ring with 3 or 4 circles of burners and 3 or 4 individual gas knobs for a jet burner, wok cooking and frywr/ paella cooking for $60 -$80

I use mine at home, camper, pontoon boat, tailgating, picnic day trips. It's portable and easy to use with a 1lbs propane can or larger tank. Clean up with water; I have dunked it in the river and lake to clean it. Yes it isn't cheap but neither were my eggs. It definitely has a place on my team.

Gave the smash burgers a try tonight and they turned out pretty good. Did a test run with two prior to these and they were really good. These were a tad over cooked but the wife said it was the best burger she ever had.

As far as I know, LA (lower Alabama) currently has the only Buc-ees outside of TX. I reside 20-25 minutes from our Buc-ees and first saw the Fire Disc there in early Dec. Had never seen one or heard of one prior to then. It peaked my interest and I did a little research on the inner web and decided I needed one. The wife and I picked it up during the third week of Dec and have been using it twice a week since then. For us a really good investment so far. Between the BGE, gas grill and the Fire Disc we do very little cooking in the kitchen any more. If I had room, I probably have a wood smoker and a Blackstone griddle. Lucky for me that I don't have the room. And I almost forgot, the wife said no more cooking toys.

Tembo Tusk is another one like it (similar) more of a shallow disc style. Got my son one for christmas. He is getting into overland camping and space is a premium. Think there is another thread here with the same info.
