Hey Gang - Going to do a big "English" style pot roast for Xmas, & want to make up an "Old World" (English/German) style rub/spice mix - anybody have any suggestions? Going to cook this baby in beer & tomato sauce w/peppers, onions, mushrooms, etc. Not particularly fancy, but in memory of of the Plattdeutsch farmboy & the proper Danish Frau who were my parents. Have a couple tried & true combinations of my own, but would be interested in any suggestions. Thanx - ERIC

Penzeys Spices sells an "Old World" Seasoning. Have never tried it. They list the ingredients as: Paprika, salt, sugar,, celery, garlic, onion, black pepper, parsley, dill, caraway, turmeric, dill, bay leaf, marjoram, thyme, savory, basil and rosemary.[p]Mr Beer
