Thanksgiving Day practice
I had a 13.5# turkey in the freezer from last November and figured that I ought to get it used up before I get to restock with this year's bargain birds. Had the opportunity to have our 2 boys and their lady friends over for a nice meal recently so I decided to thaw the bird and show off the Egg. I brined the turkey for about 24 hours and basically followed the Mad Max recipe after that with a few adjustments. Was chasing the temp for much of the cook for a variety of reasons, but it ended up taking 3 hours at an average temp of 340. Very tasty. I expect to do the exact same thing on November 27th.
This was taken about 30 minutes before I took it off the Egg.
