Small BGE Daisy wheel

I bought my small off craigslist and the top isnt dual function. Only has rotating petals. I usually just have to cook without the top. I ordered what was supposed to be a newer top, but its WAY too small. I thought they just screwed up and sent me a top for a mini but they insist its for a small. Can somebody take a measurement of the inside diameter of their small and/or mini DFMT and post it?

You likely got a very old egg, the daisy wheels used to only open the petals.

I am at the office and can't measure but just by looking at the picture...the one on the right looks exactly like the one I have on my small. Does it fit over the opening? If it does, you have the correct one. If not, then it clearly is not.XL,L,SWinston-Salem, NC

Thanks. Yeah its old but cooks well. I just wanted the dual function top for the way I cook some stuff. Draft door is small.

Here's my small which is 14 years old. The inside diameter is 4.375".

So with mine being old am I just out of luck on a top that opens both ways?

Honestly you could easily make one of the yourself with basic tools, for about $20-$30. I could walk you through it if you want. Or and metal/welding/fab shop could make you one for probably a $100 bucks or so.Blake.The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves!

guess I'm missing something here...when I study the picture you posted there is a shiny bolt obviously through an ear on the side which seems like it would pivot. Then the bolt in the center makes me believe the center turns opening the vents from closed position to 5 "cat eyes". Mine just barely fits over my opening. Not like the xl that drops over it a good bit. Thanks guys. It appears they just changed sizes since mine was made. That new top will sit ON TOP of the chimney. Its not even close. Think I'll just have to use it like I've been. I just wanted a dual function top to try and get just a little more precision on temp but it works fine like it is.

@RRP I ordered the one on the right thinking it would fit my small. When I got it home its not even close. The new one wont fit. I started the thread to see if maybe they sent a top for a mini egg.

My small is less than two years old and the DFMT measures 4-5/16 inside diameter. What does your original measure? Just curious.

My small is 3-4 years old and the inside diameter is also about 4 5/16.Are you sure your egg is a small and not a medium?? What is the grid diameter?Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Another option is taking the old DW to a dealer and comparing it to a medium one.

Outside diameter of chimney is bout 4&3/8. The inside diameter of new top is 3&1/2 and old one is nearly 5 inches, but old one was sloppy so had to put gasket around chimney.

I cant imagine it being a medium. I ordered a small woo and it fits and the sear grate that is 13&1/2 " fits and I carry it around all the time and dont figure I could tote a medium egg around?

Only dealer close only has larges and a mini. I got this new one from dealer in fayetteville where i bought my large. I still think new one may be top for a mini.

I just measured the ID of my Mini ceramic cap and it is 3.625" - I do not have a daisy for my Mini and I'm now convinced they sent you a mini and not a small!Biggreenpharmacist said:They sent wrong top I do believe. Anybody got a mini they can measure?Re-gasketing America one yard at a time. -
