O.T.: Pressure Washer Pursuit

I'm in the market to buy a cold water, gasoline pressure washer that can produce at least 4,000 psi.

Budget is not to exceed $4K.

My motor preference is Honda.

Any recommendations or buying tips from "lessons learned" are greatly appreciated.

No recommendations besides your parameters-Honda is the engine of choice and you should be able to save considerable $$ on your budget with some judicious effort. 4K psi is the new "normal" and if you can go less then you could buy a XL with the change! FWIW-

Just curious, why do you need at least 4,000? My little 1300 can destroy a wooden deck with little effort.

I have a John Deere I purchased at Lowe's. I think it's 3500 psi. My guys use it a lot. Had it for 3 years.

I had one of these for years but sold it to a friend because it took up too much space. He still uses it regularly. Honda 13HP 4000 psi.

@nolan8v - No, never. And I regret selling it because I'm already on my second 6HP pressure washer.

One tip to keep the pumps running well is to turn it off if you're going to let it idle more than a minute. And (obviously) never run it without water.

When it's idling, the water is still being pumped, but through a bypass. This water heats up, and that heat is bad for the pump.

That 13HP unit is a beast. Makes short work of most jobs. Keep all pressure washers away from kids and drunk people. I've seen some horrific injuries.

Honda (red) with a Cat pump will serve you well. Should be able to run multi-taps from this as well.
