Hey guys, I inject my spatchcock chickens with this http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/123175/creole-butter-recipe and usually then coat with Raising the Steaks (which is an amazing combo) but I'm out of it and chicken is cooking tonight and I've been waiting to try Mickey's rub - do you guys think that'll be an OK combo? i can go get some raising the steaks, it's just a 25 minute ride each way.

I'm sure it would be fine. Are you set on injecting? Mikey's coffee rub plus nothing else is a pretty good combo...

It's already injected (yesterday) and it's sitting in the fridge drying. SWMBO and I really like that particular injection. I will run to publix and hope I can find what I need to make the Mickeys, if I can't find ancho I'll use another pepper for now. Thanks for the advice @Chris_Wang!!

What I was most concerned with was that Mickey's and that creole injection wouldn't work together - the two flavors.

Do it. Mickey's rub tastes good on anything.

@Mickey will rub anything. Pass it on.

There is no way it's going to suck. It might not be one of your favorite combos but I would sure give it a try. Then again you might love it...
Hard to guess what another might like.
    Thank you,

Came out great, the rub and the injection complimented each other very well.

Ha, I'd actually never tasked Mickey's before so I really wasn't sure.

While at it, try Travis' "boiled" brisket.

I actually have never done a brisket. Mostly because I've tried brisket a number of times and never really cared for it. I guess I just don't see the attraction. That said, since EVERY SINGLE THING I've done on the egg is better than anytime I've had it before, I should indeed man up and try a brisket. ;)
