I'm getting ready to do my first Mad Max turkey and meed to know if it matters where the legs of the platesetter are in relationship to the egg. I know they gotta point up but is there anyway they meed to be. one in back...none in back?? Thanks in advance. Mik

Mik of Alaska,
It is not critical, but the fire often burns hotter in the back of the egg as the air shoots up off the back wall. So it seems logical to put one of the legs straight back to shield that eggstra heat a little.[p]Happy cookin man. Stay warm.

ain't no magic involved.
it's less complicated than in your oven.[p]throw it on and pull it off when it's done. don't over think.[p]good luck! it'll be great.

Mik of Alaska,
I miss snow. Colder here in DC than Alaska. That's wild. Not too cold to cook on the egg though. Max's crabcakes along with a cowlick seared top sirloin steak on the menu tonight. Have a good one.

Nature Boy, My problem up here is not being able to find top quality food. I'd kill for some REAL Itialian hot sausage. Beef it usually cheap cuts and pre-frozen. I swear I'm gonna move to TN to be near my grandbaby's and that will be my excuse to get near good food. Have fun grillin' Mik

stike, I think your right!!! The list of people that have envited themselves keeps getting longer. I don't have a huge cabin so I guess they will be eating allover the place. Mik

Mik of Alaska,
i dont have a platesetter, but most put one leg in the back to block the hot spot. if it were me, i would leave the back open and aim the legs back there. it make sense to me to give the legs a little more heat during the cook
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
