Have SWMBO buy these. My brother has these and swears by them. 70% off is not too shabby.

My wife said if I buy any more Shuns, she'd use them on me where I least want her to use them. [-X__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

I would wait for a better Shun line to come up. Those look cheap to me and the handles don't look very comfortable. Also not a great selection of knives. Woot runs the classics often I would wait for them or don't but a set and check online. I found a Shun Premier 8" chef on sale last year at Sur la table for $119 which is a really nice knife.

+1 on keeping knives sharp. You can really go crazy on some of the Shun knives (I did). My GFU had a set of Henkels, and I couldn't understand why any one would own those. Even though they were expensive, they were best suited for cutting soft butter. Then I ran into a professional sharpening service, and the transformation was unbelievable. They are scary sharp and maintain their edge well. Don't get me wrong, the Shuns are beautiful, and if you love nice tools, they are great. But even the Shuns need to be sharpened. I have to keep people away from my knives because if you aren't used to sharp, you will cut yourself.Santa Paula, CA
