Noticed a crack that runs from the top of the base to the bottom door, and the runs sideways 7-8 inches at about the midpoint. Looks like the crack is all of the way through the ceramic.
Thinking the s'mores party tonight is off as I'm thinking I need to avoid high heat, but what about low and slow? Thoughts from the experts please.

Does sound like you are going to need a new base. Just had mine replaced this week... before that I had kept it below 500; but my crack wasn't as bad as yours sounds

Apparently I need to work on inserting pictures. Third one down is the primary vertical crack.

Me? I would shut it down until you get the new base...

Especially if you have it on a wooden deck

It's on a concrete patio, but that's kind of what I was thinking. Didn't notice the crack was that long in the dark last night. They treated me right when I had warranty on plate setter, hoping for more of the same.
