Pomegranate chunks anyone?

My in-laws have a pomegranate tree that died recently. I snatched the remains and am considering attempting to smoke something with it. Anyone ever heard of someone using it?

I haven't but my favorite wood to use is Apricot wood that y neighbor gave me from an old tree, I would go for it.Clarendon Hills, IL
