cleaning leads to maverick

will it be OK to soak the temp leads to the maverick to clean them after using?

    Do not soak them, they are not water proof, I found out the hard way,just wipe them clean, try not to get water were the wire enters the probe.

    It is ok to soak the end of the probe, however do not do not do not allow water to enter the opening where the cable enters the probe. I've read that you can put some oil on the cable where it enters (cooking oil) and then heat the probe in the oven, much like you would season cast iron. This supposedly seals the opening. However, I don't have any details about how much oil, how hot or how long. To be safe, just keep the water out.[p]TNW

    Jerome,[p]Like the others said, DON'T soak them! I use a "scrubbie" sponge to clean mine along the tips with hot soapy water and I just wipe the cable part. The coarse green side will get any of the stuck on residue.[p]Tonia
