My thermometer reads 50 degrees when not in use is this ok or do I need to calibrate.[p]Thanks

If the air temperature isn't 50 degrees, you ought to check it. Here's some information on doing that if you are interested:[p]TNW

I got just the opposite problem. We are having the typical summer here (chicago suburbs) and when I went out this afternoon the internal temp was 165.just from the sun. No low and slow at 220 for this puppy. I was able to fairly quickly stabilize it at 350 for some great spatchcocked chicken so I'm not complaining
