I prefer chunks but if you have chips around, use the up.XL BGE - Small BGE - A few Komodo Kamado Serious Big Bad 42sFollow me on Instagram: @SSgt93

I like it chunky. Lasts longer, steady smoke IMOLBGE, Weber OTG w/ Rotisserie, Weber Genesis S-330, Chargriller Duo, AR-15, AK-47

Only time I use chips is on the top of the charcoal at the beginning of a low and slow. Just a little bump for the chunks that are buried throughout the charcoal.

Whatever ya use just make sure you use it correctly, I.E if you put it on top of hot coals, put it on just before you put on your meat, of course if you build it into your fire, make sure it wont burn off before your charcoal has burnt all the bad V.O.C's off first!... In other words place your smoke wood carefully so as not to waste it in the first 40 mins of burn off time. In the middle from the bottom up to about just below the top layer will be perfect!
