Big green egg brand remote thermometer

Just bought a remote meat and egg thermometer. Want to know where the best place to place the grill probe. Also, have a busted gasket on the back hinge, will this cause a temperature problem or affect the smoking process.

I place the grill probe on the grill over my platesetter where it protected from direct heat. I have also place the grill probe on the end of the meat probe where it joins the wire. Both worked fine for me.

If you are using a drip pan with liquid, don't place the probe over the pan. Place it someplace over the plate setter but not over the pan. The liquid will have a cooling affect, and you will be BBQing much hotter than expected. With a remote thermometer, it's all relative I guess, but with a guru, your results may be a bit disappointing.XL BGE - Large BGE - Small BGE - Traeger Lil' Tex Elite - Weber Smokey Joe
