I have been trying to gather a consturct a two barrel charcoal retort for several months. I finally got both barrels cut and cleaned and prepped the way I wanted and started my fire yesterday. I used cherry chunks and yard debris-shredded paper- junk mail-leaves,ect for the fuel. I was extremely happy with the results.
Most chunks appear completely charred and in the original size. I was afaid I was going to have a pile of ash. Some pieces were 7"x9".
Needless to say this was way bigger than anything I get from the store. I plan to post some pics if I can get them on my computer.
I grill therefore I am.....not hungy.

What ever happened? I have a couple good oaks that were felled behind my house. Considering this project.
