Dr. Pepper Ribs, OMG !

We Texans love our Dr. Pepper. After all, it was developed in Waco by a druggist in 1885. It's been used as an ingredient in many recipes, including cakes and cookies. But, this was the first time I've seen it as a major player in a meat recipe. I got this from my new best friend, The Homesick Texan, and it was excellent. Hot and spicy, yet sweet. You ought to try it.
I also cooked pinto beans and corn for supper tonight.
Here is the reason that you need three Eggs. Corn on one, ribs on another, and beans on the third.

Thanks, Caz. I've got a Nikon D300, but nowadays, you can get even a better resolution camera for much cheaper.BTW, the food looks incredible and i'm eagerly awaiting my formal invitation for Level 2 Wok training and a all out nom nom session with gold plated chop sticks.I think Nikon and Canon have models now that aren't SLR's but still have a non interchangeable lens that goes from moderate wide angle to very telephoto with a very impressive megapixel ability, and yet much less expensive. I'll message you if I find something that might be appropriate.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious -
Sounds great! You definitely inspire me to step my game up my next cook. I acknowledge that more thought needs to go into plating than just showing the finished product. Thanks! ^:)^Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

Caz,I love your attitude. I think, to most of us, that cooking on the Egg is much more than slinging out a hamburger or pork chop. We want to create a work of art that others can also do and share with their friends and family. To me, the plating is an extension of that. Haven't you always admired the work of art that the "real" chefs create in fine restaurants? I will never be near their talent, but I like to try to make it inviting.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious -
RIbs look great. How did you incorporate DR Pepper - inquiring minds want to know.
Cookin in Texas -
Boatbum,The ribs steam in Dr. Pepper for the first hour and a half. Then, Dr. Pepper is used in the glazs that's put on every 30 minutes afterwards.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

I love Cola Ribs. The recipe I use incorporates the soda into a bbq sauce; I am making them Sunday. Can you post your recipe please VI.
Here is a picture of a previous cook, sorry picture not that great in quality it is from my phone.
I smoked these for 5 hours, and the last hour I put the cola BBQ sauce on them. The sauce is a darker sauce because the soda is darker.
Cola-Barbecue Sauce- 4 cups cola
- 1/2 onion, cut into large chunks
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 1/4 cups ketchup
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 2 teaspoons yellow mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
to boil in large saucepan. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until
liquid is reduced to 1 cup, about 40 minutes. Meanwhile, process onion
and water in food processor until finely ground. Transfer mixture to
fine-mesh strainer set over bowl and press on solids to collect as much
liquid as possible; discard solids. Whisk 1/4 cup onion juice, ketchup,
vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire, and reserved spice mixture into pot
with reduced cola. Simmer until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes.
Off heat, stir in vanilla.

Caz, I use a Nikon 1. It has interchangeable lenses and really puts out some great pics. It's so easy a caveman could use it. No offense, Gary.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.
